Pacific Raceways-May 2013 (Race 5 & 6)
Lucian Pancea made it three wins in a row as he swept to victory in race 5 and 6 of The US Formula 1000 Championship West presented by Hoosier Racing Tires, Sunoco Race Fuels, George Dean Racing Engines, Jongbloed Racing Wheels, Hyperco, LS Motorsports, and Geartronics. Pancea picked up where he left off, following up his win at Laguna Seca with a near perfect weekend winning both races, leading every lap, and setting fast time in each race.
Race 5
In race 5, Pancea led after the first lap with front row starter Larry Vollum closely following and keeping the pressure on Pancea for the majority of the race, looking for any opportuntity to get by. With just a handful of laps remaining a mechanical failure caused Vollum to have a huge off in turn 3, severely damaging his Stohr. Luckily, Vollum was unhurt but the damage would spell the end his weekend. At the restart, Pancea continued on his torrid pace to the checkered flag taking victory over race 2 winner Jose Gerardo with Denis Costin in third and Terry Biner fourth. John LaBrie failed to finish.

Race 6
Qualifying for race 6 was rainy with Pancea contining his dominance, taking the pole by almost two seconds over Gerardo. By race time the track had dried out and the skies had opened up. At the green, Pancea once again bolted out to the front, leading from flag to flag in dominating fashion. Behind him Jose Gerardo and Denis Costin waged a race-long battle over the second step on the podium. Costin made a last-ditch attempt to get under Gerardo on the last lap but Gerardo closed the door and Costin had to settle for 3rd. Further back Terry Biner was able to just stay ahead of John LaBrie for 4th.
